ABOUT THE BLOG
Tiny Home Baltimore is a project proposed by Baltimore residents and natives DeAndre Daniels and Wendy M. Carpenter. As residents, we see first hand the degradation of our communities through poverty, vacant homes, crime, and lackluster public schools. One of the well-known ways to combat all of these problems is addressing the problems at home. Home is the central hub of all social aspects of society. Home is where we get our character and personality traits. Home is where we take care of family members. Home is where we lay our heads.

However, especially in Baltimore’s inner-city, all homes aren’t that wonderful place where support and resources are available. Some homes are projects where crime and police brutality are rampant. Home for some is in a place called a food desert where access to fresh food is virtually impossible. Home for some is expensive electric and water bills. These types of homes create a cycle that keeps them at that point in life. Tiny Home Baltimore is a step in the right direction to end this cycle. As mentioned in the proposal, Tiny Home Baltimore creates a sustainable community with access to fresh foods; an environmentally friendly community with the use of solar panels and other energy-saving practices; and is very affordable for Baltimore City to construct through the use of bricks from vacant homes. Tiny Home Baltimore has the chance to change Baltimore for the better.
